Elastography
Shear wave Elastography is a specialised Ultrasound technique that can assess the stiffness of the liver by sending pulses of ultrasound waves into the liver tissue. It is used to quantify the degree of liver scarring, or cirrhosis, in cases of chronic liver diseases, such as hepatitis, excessive alcohol consumption and fatty liver disorders.
Liver elastography provides useful information for clinicians regarding the degree of existing liver scarring, monitoring disease progression or improvement, and guiding management options.
This procedure is completely non-invasive and will take approximately 30 minutes. You will be asked to fast before your examination. There is no down time required, and you can continue your normal activities immediately.
This procedure is Bulk Billed if you are hold a valid Medicare Card.
