The Radiology Clinic Billing
At The Radiology Clinic, we understand that navigating healthcare costs can be confusing, so we aim to make the process as transparent and fair as possible.
Our focus is always on providing you with the highest quality imaging services, alongside personalised care and support from our highly skilled team.
We’re pleased to offer bulk billing for most procedures, which means that many of our patients often incur no out-of-pocket costs. When a fee does apply, it reflects the cost of delivering the best possible care using specialist equipment, highly trained staff, and fellowship-trained Radiologists in MRI, MSK, Body Imaging and Interventional Procedures.
The Medicare Schedule of Fees outlines the amount the Australian Government contributes toward healthcare services. However, this rebate does not always cover the full cost of delivering care. In these cases, you may be asked to pay a “gap” fee – the difference between the Medicare rebate and the actual cost of your service. If a gap applies to your appointment, we will always inform you in advance so there are no surprises. Unfortunately, Medicare rebates for diagnostic imaging services haven’t kept up. Many of these rebates have been largely frozen since 1998, even though the cost of providing quality care has significantly increased over that time.
All payment is required on the day of your appointment unless otherwise arranged with our team. If your examination incurs a cost but is eligible for a Medicare rebate, our reception team can submit your claim electronically to Medicare on your behalf. Any applicable refund will be deposited directly into your Medicare-linked bank account, typically within 24-48 hours.
Please note, not all examinations are Medicare eligible. In these instances, no Medicare reimbursement will apply. In certain circumstances, concession card holders may receive a reduced fee.
If you have any questions about costs or are unsure if your examination will be bulk billed, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
